Apple number 6 US cellphone supplier

iphone strong sales

Apple is top of the world with their new MacBooks, iPhones and iPods and their record profits this fiscal quarter. Now they’re the number 6 most selling cellphone maker in the United States. Good job Apple. What market will they try and conquer next? Maybe video games perhaps? HDTVs? Cars?! No matter what they make it’s usually always a best seller.

We see that lower-income consumers are increasingly turning to mobile devices to access the Internet, to listen to music and for email,” said Mark Donovan.

Sony Laptop Batteries Recalled

Friday, October 31st, 2008

The video above is an example of a generic battery pack facing catostrophic failure. The users created an artificial condition and took out certain components of the battery in order to force it to overheat itself. While Sony’s battery packs have recently come under fire, they did not explode in the cool manner above, I simply wanted to share the interesting video. Several companies have recalled Lithium Ion notebook batteries made by the electronics giant among concern over reports of battery overheating and minor incidents involving smoke and fire. The recall includes “certain Sony 2.15Ah lithium-ion cell batteries made in Japan and sold around the world in laptops made by Hewlett-Packard Co., Dell Inc. and Toshiba Corp.”. The majority of these cases were from HP laptops sold between 2004-2006.
